Friday Rants – They burn it, they burn it not

Beware of Kitty Porn

This article, Don’t let your pets use your computer, extolled the dangers of leaving your computer on and allowing your pets to use it.  This man said his cat downloaded over 1000 images of child pornography on his computer.  Apparently, he has changed his defense as this Orlando Sun Sentinel article explains.  Please, I beg you, don’t be a victim of your pets’ obsessions.

They burn it, they burn it not…

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you know the controversy surrounding the Ground-zero mosque and the Florida pastor who wants to burn the Koran (Quran?).  Several of my tweeps on Twitter (okmusa) have a wide range of opinions on these controversies that are also worth considering.

In my previous article, Having the right doesn’t make it right, I make the point that just because someone has the right to do something doesn’t mean it is right to do.  I think I understood that Terry Jones has decided not to burn the Quran after deciding to burn it, then not to burn it, then to burn it again.  I’m so confused.  Anyway, some of my tweeps wonder why it’s even such a big deal.  If he wants to burn it, let him burn it.  Okay, so they have a point.

I, personally, don’t like book burners.  I don’t trust them.  A friend of mine who shares my opinion also said they usually have a hidden agenda (i.e. Hitler).  I don’t see Jones actions as teaching the Jesus I know (same for Westboro Baptists).  My opinion is that he should not go through with this burning, not because it may offend those of the Islamic faith, but because there are better ways to get a message across than burning a book.
