Anyone can go to the store and buy gifts, but they won’t mean as much as those you can’t buy. The second part of my series will focus on one of the gifts you can give your wife.
Try to remember back when you were dating. You were willing to spend a lot of time with her, see a movie, cuddle on the couch and watch TV, etc. You treated her like a princess. Then, you got married and had kids, a career, a mortgage, etc. and basically life happened. Now, even though you live together, how much time do you really spend with your wife? Time spent just with her – no kids, no laptop computers, no distractions.
Set the alarm clock 10 minutes early. When the alarm goes off, hit the snooze and pull your wife close and just hold her, smell her, feel her, and remember why you fell in love with her in the first place. Do this each morning, even on the weekends.
In the evenings after dinner, when things settle down, put the career aside and sit with her on the couch or loveseat and watch just one television show. Put your feet up and pull her close. Do this often.
Yes, you can give gifts of jewelry, clothes and other material objects – and you probably should on special occasions – but never forget the gift of yourself, which is perhaps the most important.
