I read with interest this ComputerWorld article: Elgan: Even AT&T says AT&T can’t handle the iPhone. I am an Apple person. I’ve always preferred the Macintosh over any other computer on the market. When the iPhone appeared, I wanted one and my wife wanted one. Unfortunately, it was that little exclusive deal with AT&T that kept us from getting one.
My wife and I use Sprint. We’ve had excellent service and customer service with this company. I’m not going to argue which is best – Sprint or AT&T – because it is a matter of personal experience. My experience is I don’t like AT&T’s customer service (even though I think it is getting better). If Sprint had been allowed to sell iPhones, I probably would have one right now.
My son, on the other hand, has an iPhone and I was able to see first hand the features it lacked such as copy/paste, MMS, etc. I know the copy/paste has been rectified, but it should have been there in the first place. Anyway, I know he griped about dropped calls, delayed text messages and voice mail messages to name a few. There was also this thing about more bars in more places – whatever. According to the article, AT&T blames this on the users. Hmm. Imagine that – users wanting to actually use their phones.
But, I’m encouraged that Apple’s exclusive agreement with AT&T is going to be short lived. Especially since AT&T says it cannot handle the iPhone.

Apparently the exclusivity contract between Apple and At&T may be out the door soon. I also heard that there is an investigation into these types of contracts and possibly even a new regulation prohibiting such contracts from being created.
