You are on your computer downloading child pornography and are busted.  What do you do?  According to this Sun Sentinal article, you blame your cat.  This Florida man told authorities that he would leave his computer on and his cat would jump on the keyboard.  Authorities found over 1000 child pornography images on his computer supposedly downloaded by his cat.  What do your pets download?

Well, the man’s excuse was so ridiculous, it actually got me to thinking.  What happens when I leave my computer on and leave the room when my great danes, Sassy and Shadow are present?  So, I decide to try a little experiment.  I put a key logger on the computer and a video camera in the corner and left the room.  Later, I was shocked, nay, outraged at what I saw when I reviewed the tape.  By comparing the time stamp on the video to the time stamp on the key logger, I was able to correlate their activities.

It started out harmless enough.  They started out on the Dog Blog.  Reading up a bit on the debate of on-leash or off-leash walking, signed an online petition for a dog park, and read other harmless dog news.  They visited the Barking Lot, an online forum just for canines.  Then, it gets wierd.

They go to the Greatest Danes sites where they feature dogs with large tails.  Then it gets really sick.  They went to Woof-Tube where they viewed videos of French poodles.  There were a few pictures of squirrels, but I think that was mostly Sassy’s doing.

Next, they start browsing the Cat Chats, looking at kittens with no clothes on laying on their backs.  Yes, that’s right – kitty porn.  I cleaned off I don’t know how many pictures from lolcats from my hard drive.  They most certainly cannot haz kitty.

That’s when I decided to put passwords on my computer and not tell the dogs what they are.  I told them NO more computer time.  I certainly do not want dirty pictures of cats, or any other animals, downloaded to my computer.

So, I urge you, do not let your pets use your computer.  You may be ultimately responsible for what they download.
