I didn’t sleep well last night. One of my dogs (great dane) got sick inside our travel trailer about midnight. So, my wife, my son and I cleaned up a LOT of dog vomit in the middle of the night. Then, it was try to get back to sleep – fail. So, needless to say, we are still tired this morning. It’s raining and the roof in my office has a leak. Plus, there was a problem at work that began last night, so I had to hit the ground running. I get to work, and there are more problems.
Someone asked me, as people will, “How are you?” Several thoughts came to mind. Tired, frustrated, busy were some responses that came to mind. Instead, I said, “Well, I woke up breathing, I have a house, a job, and I eat well. So, I am well.”
We tend to take our blessings for granted. It’s easy to just assume the house and the job and the groceries will always be there and therefore we forget they are really blessings from God and not just something that “happens”. Every day of life is a gift.
So, yes, sometimes my job is a hassle, sometimes my house is a pain, and sometimes groceries are outrageously expensive. But I thank God I have a job to gripe about, a house that keeps me busy, and the money to buy the groceries so that my family will never know true hunger.
Thank God every day.
