I know this was originally published back in June, but I found a video online from Chris Colbert that made me laugh, so I thought I’d publish it here, too.
So, what do you do with a 7-year-old who loves to read and loves to visit the library? Of course, you ban him from the library. According to the news, Dominic Phillip lives near a town called Tatamy, but the ZIP code is Palmer, his mailing address Easton, and his school district is Nazareth. So, based on this, he is ineligible to have a library card at his local library because one of the above places is Tatamy.
I understand there needs to be boundaries and if Dominick’s mom had set out to defraud the library system, then by all means, revoke his card. If his family moved after procuring the card, it should be returned. But that is simply not the case. The card was applied for in good faith, was issued based upon that good faith, and should have been grandfathered in.
