President guilty of open-mouth, insert-foot

President Barack Obama certainly made it plain that he can speak publicly about an incident he has absolutely no information about.  Of course, he is not alone as I would venture to say that all of us have been guilty of that at one time or another.  But the rest of us are not the president of the most powerful nation on earth, either.

Earlier, President Obama made the comment that a Cambridge police sergeant arresting a Harvard professor (who alledgedly happens to be a close friend of the president) was acting “stupidly”.  This was based on a lot of hearsay and little hard fact.  The president should have deferred and waited until the outcome of the investigation into the incident, made himself aware of the facts, then commented.

What exactly happened that night is not clear.  I wasn’t there, so I can’t comment on whether the actions were stupid or justified.  It is basically a he-said, she-said type of deal at this time.
