Shortly after Obama took office, he made it known his desire to close the detainee camp at Guantanamo Bay within a year. I thought that his first concern should be for the economy, but it seems to be compassion for those who do harm in the world, destroying and killing innocent people. I do not share his compassion.
My biggest concern, and apparently I share this concern with others, is: What do we do with those detained there? Releasing them is not an option because, as you know, they will run back and join the first terrorist organization they come to. And since they already have such a love for the United States, we know that they will be even more zealous in their attacks.
Recently, more Democrats are joining with the Republicans in telling the president that Gitmo needs to remain open at least until we know where we are going to store the detainees we have. We certainly do not want them in the US. I suppose I am getting cynical in my old age and believe the good people of this world need to stop tolerating the evil.
